LITIGATION & DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Litigation work entails a combination of uncompromising skills of an experienced trial lawyer and strategic approaches to resolving relevant legal issues. In the process of thoroughly and carefully reviewing the courses of action available, the lawyer in charge must possess the ability to recognize the need for an aggressive and effective, yet practical and cost-effective approach in addressing the needs of clients. In line with this, the Firm encourages the use of alternative methods of dispute resolution, such as negotiation, mediation and arbitration. Should court action become inevitable, the Firm's trial lawyers work closely with clients, identify the key legal concerns, gather necessary and relevant information from witnesses, and focus on the admissible evidence available, all with the end in view of protecting the clients' rights and interests.

The Firm's experienced trial attorneys provide quality representation and handle a wide mixture of litigation work for both individuals and businesses, including civil, commercial, labor, criminal, special proceedings (such as probate and guardianship proceedings) and corporate disputes before trial courts, as well as those before administrative agencies and arbitral bodies (including the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission), and appellate practice before higher courts.

Investment & Corporate Practice

The Firm provides a wide range of general corporate and commercial services, ranging from day-to-day business activities to assisting in major issues such as company mergers and acquisitions. The Firm's practice in this area include incorporations, creation of other juridical entities such as partnerships, representative offices and regional headquarters, monitoring of corporate minute books, recording and formalizing corporate actions and resolutions, compliance with legal reportorial requirements, corporate secretaryship, negotiations and drafting of commercial agreements and contracts, securities registration, corporate reorganizations, corporate rehabilitations, and other matters involving corporate and securities laws geared towards commercial activity.

On a regular basis, the Firm advises clients on matters relating to the manner in which they handle their accounts and credit processes, as well as how they comply with assumed obligations, avoiding dispute in the process. Estate Planning & Probate


The Firm provides a full range of simple and sophisticated estate planning services designed to meet the specific needs of its clients' estates. Services vary from simple drafting of wills and trusts, codicils and amendments, and powers of attorney, to the complicated task of organizing and developing an estate plan, as well as assistance in probate administration and/or litigation to ensure proper distribution of assets by the estate. Such matters may include will allowances and contests, appointment of executors or administrators, issuance of letters testamentary or letters of administration, will and trust construction, actions for breach of fiduciary duties by executors or administrators, and guardianship proceedings.

LABOR & EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS


The Firm recognizes the need to strike a balance between the interests and concerns of management, on the one hand, and the working force, on the other. In line with this, the Firm's practice on labor and employment relations include participation in collective bargaining, preparation and review of employment agreements and contracts, securing work permits, providing advice on labor laws administered by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA), and handling of disputes from mediation, conciliation to litigation before the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) and appellate courts involving local/overseas employment (both land-based and sea-based workers).

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY




The Firm understands the importance of safeguarding intellectual property rights, in line with the growing concerns to ensure that such rights are adequately protected. Consistent with this, the Firm has substantial Intellectual property work, such as prosecution of trademarks, trade names, copyrights, and patent applications, as well as other works relating to the protection of intellectual property rights, including the documentation and registration of distribution, licensing, and franchising agreements.

REal estate transactions

The Firm assists clients in various aspects of commercial and residential real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, financing, exchanges, lease negotiations, and foreclosures. Such assistance invariably involves title searches and related due diligence undertakings, drafting of appropriate contracts in a wide variety of situations, processing of tax payments and securing tax clearances, initiating actions for consolidation and partition of properties, as well as obtaining new certificates of title, whenever applicable.

For commercial and residential lease transactions, the Firm's services cover both landlords and tenants of residential properties, office buildings, and various other properties, which transactions include prosecuting and defending eviction actions.

The Firm's services on loan foreclosures for both residential and commercial properties cover the entire process up to public auctions and obtaining new certificates of title to ensure that clients' interests are adequately protected.

IMMIGRATION






The Firm's immigration practice includes citizenship recognition and processing of travel documentations. Assistance is also provided to clients and its foreign employees in securing visas and provisional work permits.

FAMILY RELATIONS






The expertise of the Firm's trial lawyers also covers family law cases, including actions for adoption, guardianship, annulment of marriages, legal separation, judicial declaration of separation of conjugal property, and related cases.
